Local Scholarships

Bikers Against Abused & Neglected Children -  Open to high school senior or any year of undergraduate study at an accredited college or university.  The applicant must have been in an abuse or neglect situation or going to school to study in an area that will help children who may have abused/neglected.  See Mrs. Cashen for an application.  Deadline is May 13, 2017. 
 
Medical Mutual - Open to seniors plannning to attend a college or university.  This is a one-time $500 scholarship which will be applied to tuition.  Deadline is May 31,  2017 @ 5pm.  Click on the link for the application.
 
EAA Chapter 50 - Open to all seniors who have enrolled in an accredited post-secondary school to study some aspect of Aviation.  Deadline passed for 2016.  See Mrs. Cashen for an application.
 
Janotta & Herner - Open to seniors who plan to attend a 4 or 2 year college program and study Building Design and/or Construction related  courses.  Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA.  The deadline is April 14, 2017.  See Mrs. Cashen for an application.
 
Ashland Co. Community Foundation - Larry & Catherine Paxton Scholarship is open to seniors who plan to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year program for Business (Accounting preferred) who have a 3.0 or greater GPA.  Closed for 2016-17.
 
Ohio Contractors Association - Open to seniors who plan to attend a 2 or 4 year program for Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or construction related field.  The deadline is passed for 2016.  See Mrs. Cashen for an application.
 
Firelands Positive People - Open to seniors who have faced and conquered exceptional obstacles.  Must fill out the online pdf and submit to Mrs Cashen.  Deadline passed for 2017.  Please see Mrs. Cashen and the pdf will be sent to you.
 
 
PDK SCHOLARSHIP-For current seniors who will be majoring in education. See Mrs. Cashen for an application. Deadline passed for 2016.
 
HAWTHORNE SCHOLARSHIP -New Beginnings Pediatrics is again offering one $500 scholarship to a graduating senior at each area high school that will be pursuing a degree in the health care field. Click on the link for an application. Deadline is April 30, 2017.
 
EHOVE- Available to graduating seniors who plan on attending any of EHOVE's full time adult education career training programs. This is a $1500 scholarship. Click on the link to fill out the online application or see Mrs. Cashen for an application. Deadline is passed for 2017.
 
Firelands Electric Cooperative- Must be a graduating senior in 2015, be the son, daughter, legal ward of a member of Firelands Electric Cooperative and living in a home served by Firelands Electric, and must have a 3.5 or better GPA and a 24 or better composite on the ACT. Go to link for application and information. There is also a scholarship for a senior who has overcome some personal adversity and has a 2.75 GPA. Deadline passed for 2017.
 
Huron County Farm Bureau-Seniors who plan to enroll in fall of 2017 in an Ohio school, majoring in an agriculturally related program. Applicant or his/her parents must have a paid membership with Huron County Farm Bureau. Deadline passed for 2016- 2017.
 
Huron County Fraternal Order of Police- Two $500 scholarships for graduating seniors who reside in Huron County and who are pursuing careers in law enforcement or other criminal justice related fields of study. See Mrs. Cashen for application.  Deadline is passed for 2017.
 
Huron County Chapter Ohio Genealogical Society-Seniors who plan on pursuing a career in education, library science, social studies, or other genealogy related fields of study may apply for the scholarship. Deadline is passed for 2016.  See Mrs. Cashen for an application.
 
Elton E. Mackin Detachment of the Marine Corps League- $500 to qualified recipients, i.e., a relative of a former or current active duty Marine. Deadline is April 30, 2017.  See Mrs. Cashen for application.

Firelands Federal Credit Union -Must be a member or be the dependent of a member of FFCU, must have a financial need for assistance, enrolled full time in college, university, or technical college. Deadline passed for 2016- 2017. See Mrs. Cashen for application or click on the link.
 
Area Agency on Aging- 1-$2000. Must be in college sophomore status for the 2016-2017 school year and enrolled in an accredited, technical school, college, or university. Five - $1000 grants. Must be a senior in high school planning a course of study and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree that would benefit the field of aging (including, Nursing, Social Work, Human Services, Biology, Pharmacy, Psychology, Psychiatry, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupation Therapy, Dietetics or other field as deemed appropriate by the Scholarship Selection Committee). HURON COUNTY RETIRED TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD -Must be an senior attending a local, city, or parochial high school within Huron County, or a resident of Huron County who is entering or continuing in the field of education. Deadline April 12, 2017. See Mrs. Cashen for an application.
 
SOUTH CENTRAL LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION -Please see Mrs. Cashen for an application which covers 10 different local scholarships.They include Capt. Steven Lewis Memorial, Greenwich American Legion, Medical Mutual, North Fairfield Lions Club, Ruth C. Templer Education Fund, SCEA Senior Scholarship, Terry Hunt Memorial, Ralph Walcher Farms, Gerald Rhine Hunter Memorial Scholarship, and Civista Bank. Will be available on March 20th and deadline is April 18, 2017.

Kevin Zimmerman Memorial 4-H Scholarship - $500 scholarship open to seniors who are in 4-H and planning on attending college.  Click on the link or pick up an application at the Huron County Extension Office.  Deadline is passed for 2016.
