South Central Soils Team

The South Central FFA soils team have started their practices for the County Soils Contest September 29th. The soils team consists of two individual teams, Urban and Rural. Urban judges soil sites to see if it’s a good site to build on. They look for things like soil type, soil stability, flooding issues, and many other things. They made it all the way to state last year and hope to make it all the way to Nationals this year. The Urban team consists of Kaycee Burton, Desiree Chill, Terry Copsey, Rachel Mikalacki, Chesnee Pope, Summer Sweeting, and is coached by Mrs. Lucha. Rural is required to evaluate each pit site for agricultural purposes and determine slope, erosion, soil texture, depth and drainage. They also hope to make it to Nationals. The Rural team consists of Jeremiah Adams, Miles Burton, Travis Lortcher, Andrew Madison, Kennedy Risner, Grant Seidel, Dallas Tolliver, Marshall Wheeler, Matt Whiteside, and they are coached by Mr. Chaffee. Wish them luck as they get ready to compete in County soils.
