SC FFA Members Attend WLC
On July 15, 2014, four South Central FFA members traveled to Washington, D.C. where they participated in the five day Washington Leadership Conference. The members that attended were Kara Walcher, Summer Long, Ryan Hale, and Terry Copsey. The SC FFA members joined FFA members from all over the United States where they learned how to become effective leaders by learning their purpose, how to value people, how to take action, and how to serve others. The members toured with their advisor, Mrs. Lucha, the sights of Washington, D.C. while visiting. The members visited the National Cathedral, the U.S. Capitol Building, The WWI Memorial, WWII Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the Marine Corps Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and the White House. While at the Capitol Building the FFA members met with Representative Bob Gibbs discussing agriculture, watersheds and how he became a Representative. The members also met with the Ohio State University's lobbyist Bill Couch, to hear about the other side of the legislative process. Through attending the Washington Leadership Conference, the members learned about leadership, our nation's history and citizenship.
