2017 Soils

When most people think of fall they think of football, but for the South Central FFA they think of soils. The South Central FFA has an Urban and Rural team, both team judge different things. The urban land and soils judging CDE is an educational activity designed as a practical method of teaching students to evaluate land and soil to determine its potential use for urban, homesites and other non-farm uses. The urban team is made of Ally Burton, Kaycee Burton, Desiree Chill, Hunter Cooper, Brooke Gahring, Mason Keisel, Philip Madison, Ivy Ott  and Maddie Vogel. The team placed 1st at County, as Kaycee Burton placed 1st overall and Ally Burton placed 4th overall. At districts the team placed 2nd, with Kaycee Burton placing 1st overall with a  977 out of a possible 996 points. The team will be moving on to state October 14th.

As the rural soils judging CDE is designed to teach students to evaluate land and soil to determine its greatest safe potential use. The team consists of Issac Brown, Ben Chaffee, Emily Keene, Kendall Keene, Andrew Madison, Grant Seidel, Lathan Sholes and Danielle Ott. The team placed 2nd at County, with Kendall Keene placing 4th overall and Andrew Madison placing 2nd overall. They also placed 2nd at Districts, Ben Chaffee placing 3rd overall. The rural team will also be moving on to state.
