2016 State Convention

On May 5th, South Central FFA members headed down to Columbus for the 88th annual Ohio FFA State Convention. During the two days they were in Columbus they explored German Village, toured the State Capital, toured OSU and participated in many convention sessions. While in German Village they learned how to make fudge at the famous Schmidt’s Fudge Haus, and went to the local Book Loft. They toured around the State Capital and learned the significance of everything. The members had the opportunity to tour the Food Science buildings at OSU and learn about the possible courses you could take while in college. During Convention sessions members listen to inspirational speakers such as Sydney Snider, National FFA Officer, and Dave Roever, Vietnam Veterian. Members were also recognized for all their hard work. Kaycee Burton, Terry Copsey and Kara Walcher were recognized for their gold rated officer books. Miles Burton, Terry Copsey, and Dallas Tolliver received their State Degrees. Along with that Mr. Wayne Hinkle received his Honorary State Degree. Kaycee Burton placed 3rd in state with her Ag. Communication SAE. Bethany Lortcher placed 3rd in state with her Poultry Production SAE, and Terry Copsey placed 4th in state in his Poultry Production SAE. Not only did the members participate in fun activities they also donated over 300 canned food items to a local food bank. They also got to read to 1st graders at one of the local Columbus schools and plant flowers with them. Another great State Convention in the books and many more to come. Thank you to all who donated canned food items.
