2015 National Convention

On October 27th South Central FFA members along with Monroeville, Western Reserve, Hiland and Mapleton headed to Louisville, Kentucky for the 88th National Convention and Expo. During this week we explored The Wilds, caves and state parks. We also rode a boat on the Ohio River and explored the Water Works. We visited the historical Schimpff's Candy store in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Also in honor of Halloween we watched Dracula at the Actors theatre of Louisville. We participated in multiple sessions, listened to inspiring speeches from Dr. Rick Rigsby and Amberley Snyder, and watched members be recognized for their hard work. Zeb Burton placed 2nd with his proficiency and was given a trip to Costa Rica, and Rebeka Mikalacki received her American Degree. National Convention is one of the most educational trips we take. We learn so much within a week, everything from the history of FFA to interesting facts about an underground waterfall. Desiree Chill, a FFA member that attended National Convention, in a recent interview said, when asked what her favorite part was, “My favorite part was definitely the motivational speakers. They showed me how life can change in a second and to not let that obstacle keep you from following your dreams.” This year's National Convention was truly a success, and to all those future FFA members we highly recommend going.
