South Central FFA Members Takes on Columbus for the 89th Ohio FFA State Convention.
On May 3rd the South Central FFA took on Columbus for the 89th Ohio State Convention. They started off the trip with their annual trip to Schmidt’s Fudge Haus. They sadly were unable to watch the fudge demonstration due to weather, but were able to visit other places in German Village like the Book Loft. Also due to bad weather, they had to cancel their OSU Scavenger Hunt, but they still toured the campus on the bus. The members also had the opportunity to attend all the sessions. During the 1st session 2016-2017 President, Miles Burton, and 2016-2017 Vice President, Marshall Wheeler, represented the South Central FFA Chapter by receiving the Gold Rated National Chapter award. Following that the members got the chance to listen to an inspirational story from Amberley Snyder, former Utah State FFA Officer and Rodeo Champion, whose life took a turn in 2010. Amberley Snyder left the scene of a horrible car accident paralyzed from the waist down, after falling asleep at the wheel. She inspired FFA Members to not give up on their dreams and to overcome obstacles that come their way. Amberley to this day is still participating in rodeos all over the world. During the 2nd session, Rob and Michele Seidel were honored with their Honorary State Degrees. The 3rd session gave the members the opportunity to listen to Lamarr Womble about the 21st century and being a leader. Kaycee Burton, Tommy Reising and Kara Walcher were recognized in the 4th session for their Gold Rated Officer books. In the final session 10 South Central FFA members were honored with their FFA State Degrees. Kaycee Burton, Desiree Chill, Brooke Garhing, Kendall Keene, Andrew Madison, Danielle Ott, Tommy Reisning, Grant Seidel, Summer Sweeting, and Kara Walcher are all one degree closer to receiving their American Degree. Next year the South Central FFA hopes to have even more FFA Member walk across the stage.
