South Central's Soils Teams

On September 26th South Central’s soils teams competed at the county competition. The urban team consists of finding the best suit for the ground with buildings and living necessities. They placed 1st with the team who included Zebulon Burton, Rachel Mikalacki, Terry Copsey, Kaycee Burton, Grace Antill, Andrew Shepard, Colten Smith and Desiree Chill. The rural team figures out the best things needed and what should be done with the ground for agriculture. They placed 2nd with the team consisting of Bethany Lortcher, Jeremiah Adams, Andrew Madison, Grant Seidel, Miles Burton and Greg Cornish. Both teams did very well and qualified for districts.

The district competition was on September 30th at the Lorain County J.V.S. The rural team placed 10th but no one placed in the top ten; this ended their season. The urban team placed 2nd with Zebulon placing 5th, Terry Copsey 7th, Rachel Mikalacki 8th and Kaycee Burton 10th. This qualified the urban team to move on to the state.

The state competition was on October 11th in Heath, Ohio. The urban team placed 7th in the state with Zebulon Burton placing 3rd overall, Rachel Mikalacki 45th, Kaycee Burton 67th and Terry Copsey placing 100th. It was a great end to the 2014 soils teams.
